Owen Hargreaves is confident he will be fit for the start of the new campaign, despite missing all four matches on United's pre-season tour of Asia.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined from Bayern Munich in July after a year of waiting patiently for the move to Manchester he craved.

But tendonitis trouble in his knee has meant he has had to wait that little bit longer to realise his ambition of playing for the Reds.
